Personal Statement
John Amodeo, PhD, LMFT (#MFC14453), is a psychotherapist, coach, author, and speaker who has dedicated over 45 years to integrating psychological principles with spiritual wisdom. He holds graduate degrees in both Clinical Psychology and Transpersonal Psychology, and is a certified Focusing Trainer.
John helps individuals and couples address important relationship issues and life concerns. Through a warm, engaging style, he creates a safe place to explore issues and feelings so that you may move toward greater freedom, inner peace, and intimacy. Bringing a gentle presence toward the subtle flow of inner experiencing allows a more friendly relationship with feelings and longings, which may then be expressed in non-shaming, engaging ways that invite deeper, safer connections.
In addition to his clinical practice, John has written extensively, including as a popular contributor to Psychology Today, where his articles have garnered over 6 million views. He co-authored a chapter with Dr. Sue Johnson in the The Emotionally Focused Casebook, and has contributed chapters in several other influential books. His work has been featured in numerous media outlets, including CNN, Donahue, and New Dimensions Radio, discussing topics related to emotional well-being, relationships, and personal development.
John has authored several well-regarded books that offer integrative approaches to incorporating psychological awareness and spiritual wisdom into our personal lives and relationships. His works include:
